The Joker's Finger

Many events happened in 2014 which had no impact on my life.

On Wednesday 17th December I went to my favorite pizza parlour
where I ordered a pizza and a drink.

A young waitress brought my order and a small package.
"This is a Fortune Cookie , your fortune is in here" she said .

Smiling I opened the Fortune Cookie . In it I found a paper on which was
written , "The correct answer is a finger"
I looked up and saw the waitress pointing through the window at
at the Sky Tower.

Immediately I left the pizza parlous, rushed to the nearest Lotto
shop and bought the ticket ,19.3.28.2.22.20

Why did I choose these number?

The Sky Tower's construction began in 1994, the year I was born
so I chose 19. Its height is 328 metros , so 3 and 28 must be lucky.
There are 222 steps in the Sky Tower so I choose 2 and 22.

This year we ,The Sky Tower and I , are 20 years old. 20 is a good
number to finish with.

I wanted to buy a diamond ring for my fiance which cost only $1399 
so I could easily afford it if I was 5 million !

That night I waited anxiously for my numbers the roll out and 
when they did . I found I had not won Division 1 but only $1,424

After buying my fiancee's ring  I went to the pizza parlour where
I told the waitress about the fortune cookie . 

She laughed and laughed
"It was just a joke " She said

When I paid the $25 for my usual order I realized my Lotto prize
was the sum total of the ring ,the pizza and the drink !
