人間の本位『死の重み』｢the burden of death｣

真は、広島から大阪に帰って来た。
そして、証券会社でプログラマをすることに成った。
そんな、冬。日曜日（本当は覚えてない）寒かった気がする。

新井さんから電話があった。
「ルゥ　ルゥ　ルゥ」
「はい　上野です」
「どうしてる？家に来ない」
新井は、人懐こく話しかけてくる。
「いいよ。仏法の話はなしやで」
真は、少し車座の仏法対話には慣れなかった。
「分かった」
新井は、すぐさま返事した。
今回は、普通の高校時代の同級生として会いたい。
真は、すぐさま新井さんの家に行った。
真は高校の友達に会うのは嬉しい。
本当は、田中（たのなか）にも会いたかった。
田中と新井は友達である。
田中と真は仲がいい友達であった。
そんな微妙な関係である。
真は本当は高三の体育競技で長距離走で新井を抜いた。
けっこう、その時以来、仲が悪かった。と言うか？
新井が愛想無い様に感じていたが、田中を通して仲良くなった。
新井は、悪友である。
「新井。お邪魔します」
（なにか静かであった）
真は、新井の家の前にいた。

新井の家の前、玄関が開く。
古びている。蛇の寝床みたいな家。
しかし、昔の懐かしみのある家。
古い木の匂いがする。
「あがれ　上野」
新井は、快く言う。
「おぉ」
真も快く答える。
新井は、まだ、大学生。東京に上京している。
真は、もう、仕事をしている。
浪人して、大学に行く道もあった。
２人は、道を分かれた。
真は、ただ自分の好きな道を行きたかっただけであり、学歴を捨てた。
しかし、一生勉強し続けると決めた。
二階に上がる。
座る。
「俺もう働ぃてんで」
真は、近況を言う。
「うん」
なんとなく無愛想な新井。
「東京てどんな感じ？田中。元気？」
真は、お構いなしに尋ねる。
「元気やで」
やっぱり、新井は素っ気ない。
「今日は高校の話をしようぜ」
真は、笑顔を見せた。
（今日は本当の友達になれるかもしれない）
真は期待した。

新井は、高校の話をした。
普通の話は、楽しい。
そして、話は終わった。
真は、楽しかった。
しかし、何か新井は静かであった。
「おやじさんは？」
真は、なにも気にせず尋ねた。
新井の親父さんは好きになれた。
新井は、少し口ごもったが一言言った。
「亡くなった」
その時、真は、何も感じなかった。
冷静に新井の辛さは感じた。
しかし、何も感じなかった。
死に対して実感が無かったのかもしれない。
根っから死の恐怖が少なかったのかもしれない。
真にとって死は、生の終わりではないかもしれない。
（楽しそうに信仰してたのになぜだ）
真は、新井の家を出た。
この死を契機に真は創価学会に入信することになる。

Shin has returned to Osaka from Hiroshima.
He ended up working as a programmer at a securities company.
It's winter like that. I think it was cold on Sunday (I don't really remember).

Mr. Arai called him.
"Luu Luu Luu"
“Yes, this is Ueno.”
"How are you doing? Would you like to come over to my house and see me?"
Arai speaks to me in a friendly manner.
"Okay. No need to talk about Buddhism."
Shin was a little unaccustomed to Buddhist dialogue in Kurumaza.
"I understood"
Arai responded immediately.

This time, he wants to meet him as a normal high school classmate.
Shin immediately went to Mr. Arai's house.
Shin is happy to meet his high school friends.
He actually wanted to meet Tanonaka as well.
Tanonaka and Arai are friends.
Tanonaka and Shin were good friends.
Such a delicate relationship.

Shin actually overtook Arai in a long-distance run in a high school athletics competition.
Well, we haven't been on good terms since then. Or say?
He felt that Arai was unfriendly, but they became friends through Tanonaka.
Arai is a bad friend.

"Arai. Sorry to bother you."

Shin was in front of Arai's house.

In front of Arai's house, the front door opens.
It's old. A house that looks like a snake's bed.
However, the house has a nostalgic feel of the past.
It smells like old wood.
"Go up, Ueno."
Arai says cheerfully.
"Oh"
Shin also happily answers.

Arai is still a university student. He has moved to Tokyo.
Shin is already working.
He could have become a ronin and went to university.
The two went on different paths.
Shin just wanted to follow his own path and threw away his educational background.
However, he decided that he would continue to study for the rest of his life.

Go up to the second floor.
sit.
“I’m already working.”
Shin tells us what's going on.
"Yeah"
Arai is somehow unfriendly.
"What's it like in Tokyo? Tanaka. How are you doing?"
Shin asks without hesitation.
"He's fine."
It's not just my imagination, Arai is so blunt.
"Today, let's talk about nostalgic high school."
Shin smiled.
(Maybe we can become real friends today)
Shin expects.

Arai talked about high school.
Ordinary stories are fun.
And then the story ended.
Shin was fun.

However, there was something quiet about Arai.
“What about your father?”
Shin asked without worrying about anything.
He was able to like Arai's father.
Arai stammered a little, but said something.
"Passed away"

At that time, Shin didn't feel anything.
He calmly felt Arai's pain.
But he felt nothing.
Maybe he didn't have a real sense of death.
Perhaps he had little fear of death.
For Shin, death may not be the end of the soul.
(He seemed to be enjoying his faith, so why?)
Shin left Arai's house.
This death served as an opportunity for Shin to join the Soka Gakkai.
